What a Mobile Mechanic Costs in Utah
A visit has three parts: a $125 diagnostic, a travel fee of $75 to $100 in addition to the diagnostic, and the repair itself. The diagnostic is credited toward the repair if you go ahead with it. The repair cost depends on your vehicle, the parts and the labor.

The three numbers
Each visit has a diagnostic, a travel fee and a repair cost. The first two are fixed or ranged. The third depends on your car.
- Diagnostic
- $125On every job. Credited if you go ahead with the repair. Kept if you decline it.
- Travel
- $75 to $100Depends on distance and fuel. Charged in addition to the diagnostic.
- Repair
- By vehicle and laborThe price depends on your vehicle, the parts and the labor it needs.
The $125 diagnostic
The diagnostic visit is $125 on every job. It pays for the time spent looking for the cause of the problem.
Go ahead with the repair and the $125 counts toward it. Decide against the repair and the $125 is not refunded.
The travel fee
Travel is $75 to $100, charged in addition to the $125 diagnostic. Where it lands in that range depends on the miles and the fuel involved.
What the repair costs
The repair cost depends on the vehicle, the parts and the labor it needs. A set of brake pads and a failed water pump are different jobs, so there is no single price.
- The part. Parts differ by make, model and year.
- The labor. Some parts are easy to reach and some take much longer to get to.
- More than one repair. A car with two problems costs more than a car with one.
After 8 p.m., the labor rate is $150 an hour.
